Day 6/7
Après le “closing ceremony”, nous sommes allés à une fête finale. Il y avait beaucoup de jeux, comme « human foosball, sumo wrestling, giant climbing wall, obstacle course », aussi bien qu'une tente de musique et des tas de nourriture. En plus, c'était notre dernière opportunité d'échanger d'épingles. D'abord, nous avons mangé un peu de pizza, puis nous avons trouvé où nous pourrions voir nos “marques.” Nous avons fini en 9eme place!! Notre but était de finir dans les premiers 10 et on a réussi!! Après qu'on a vu les marques, nous avons choisi de faire un dernier échange d'épingles.

After the closing ceremony, we went to the final party. There were many games such as human foosball, sumo wrestling, a giant climbing wall, an obstacle course, as well as a music tent and a ton of food and drink. Plus, it was our last opportunity to trade pins. First, we ate some pizza, then we figured out where we could find our scores. Turns out we finished in 9th place out of 50! Our goal was to finish in the top 10 and we accomplished our goal!! After we saw our scores, we chose to do some last-minute pin trading.
At 11:45, we had to meet to get on the bus and set off for St. Paul. Most of us fell asleep soon after departure. Though it wasn't easy to get comfortable on the bus, the return trip seemed to pass much more quickly than the way there. We finally pulled into the parking lot at around 4 in the afternoon and were greeted by our families. After saying goodbye to our new friends from Cloquet and J.J. Hill, we were finally home after an extraordinary trip.
We would like to say thank you to our fellow travelers from Cloquet and J.J. Hill for making our trip so enjoyable, to our supporters from LNFI both past (alum families) and present (Dr. Lawson, our teachers and our friends), and most of all to our families who offered us their unconditional support.

A 11:45, il fallait se réunir pour monter dans le bus. Nous nous sommes endormis bientôt après le départ. C'était pas facile de devenir confortable de le bus, mais le retour semblait passer plus vite que l'aller, et nous sommes arrivés à St. Paul vers 4 heures de l'après midi. Day 6
On a commencé notre dernière journée à Knoxville en dormant un peu tard. Enfin! Presque chaque jour il fallait se lever tôt. On y a marché vite parce que le café fermait. On a mangé ce qui restait et on est retournés à notre dortoir. Puis, on a eu une conférence d'équipe où on a décidé de faire nos bagages, les mettres dans le bus, et puis conduire aux Smoky Mountains. On a fait nos bagages et on a mis nos chausseurs pour marcher (randonner). On a vite mangé le déjeuner avant de partir aux Smoky Mountains, M. Garvey a pris des photos et puis on a commencé la randonnée. C’était dans un forêt et on devait rester sur le chemin parce que M. Garvey a vu des plantes dangereuses (poison ivy et poison oak). Les randonneurs qui allaient dans l'autre direction, nous ont dit qu'ils ont vu quelques ours - une mère et deux bébés dans un arbre. On a marché jusqu’à une vieille cabane et on est entrés dedans et puis M. Garvey a pris encore plus de photos. On est retournés à l'accueil du parc national et avant de partir, M. Garvey a pris quelques autres photos. On est retournés au dortoir, mis nos t-shirts de MN Toad Trip et on est allés manger le dîner, qui était mexicain. Puis on est partis au "closing ceremony."
Nous étions très excités quand il a dit « Middle Level : A New Angle. » Notre nom n'était pas annoncé, mais on pourrait trouver nos scores à la fête après et on espérait qu’on était dans les premiers 10.

After an hour and ten minute car ride, we arrived at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Mr. Garvey took some photos, and then we started our hike. We were told to stay on the path because Mr. Garvey had seen poison oak and poison ivy. The hikers going in the opposite direction told us that they had seen some bears – a mother and 2 cubs in a tree. We walked to an old cabin and we went inside. Mr. Garvey took some more pictures. We turned back around, and at the tourist center Mr. Garvey took a few more pictures before we left back to the dorms. We put on our MN Toad Trip t-shirts and had dinner, which was Mexican. Then we were off to the closing ceremony.
We were excited when the annonceur said “ A New Angle: Middle Level” Our name wasn't announced, but we couldn’t wait to get to the party and see our scores, because we knew we had done a good job. We hoped we were in the top ten.

Day 5
Bonjour! Aujourd’hui on a commencé avec un petit déjeuner, et puis toutes les personnes dans notre group sont allés pratiquer notre pièce de théâtre et on a fait notre « Check In ». Nous étions un peu stressés parce que il y avait un changement de règles, alors nous ne savions pas si notre structure allait être permise. Il fallait attendre jusqu'à la fin de notre présentation pour voir si ca allait marcher. Apres ca, il était temps pour fait notre pièce de théâtre. On a fait très bien. Notre structure a pese 17.14 grams et elle a tenu 120 livres. Madame Lagos a pense que c’était notre meilleure présentation. Apres notre pièce de théâtre, notre équipe a fait le 3M Disaster Challenge. Notre group était divisé entre 3 petits groups. Quand ils ont divisé notre group, tous les 3 groups ont fais des défis. C’était très amusant !!!! Apres ont a mangé le diner, notre group est allé nager. C’était une journée très amusant !

Hello! Today we started with our breakfast, and then the people in our group practiced our play and went to check in. We were a little stressed because there had been a change of rules, so we didn’t know if our structure would be allowed. We had to wait until the end of our presentation to find out. Then it was time for our performance. I think we did really well! Our structure weighed 17.14 grams and it held 120 pounds! Madame Lagos thought it was our best presentation ever. After our performance, we all went to do the 3M Disaster Challenge! We were broken up into three groups. When they were done breaking us up in three groups, we were sent to do 2 smaller challenges! It was really fun! After that we ate dinner, and went swimming! It was a really fun day!

Day 4
Ce matin, nous nous sommes levés très tôt pour faire notre défi instant. C’était bien passé mais, je ne peux rien dire parce que tout le monde doit faire le même défi. Après le défi, nous sommes allés regarder une équipe du Wisconsin, dont la coach est la cousine de Madame Lagos. Leur présentation était très drôle.
Ensuite, nous avons regardé quelques équipes du même niveau et du même défi principal que nous, pour évaluer notre compétition.
En route au déjeuner, le père de Julia Lagos a nous joint. C’était une surprise pour elle. En plus, la famille de Peter, aussi bien que la maman et la sœur de Claire sont arrivées. Nous sommes contents d’avoir des supporteurs ici. L’après-midi, nous avons répété notre pièce et finalisé quelques détails.
Enfin, un peu de temps libre, alors nous sommes allés à la piscine. L’eau était très froide, mais nous avons nagé quand même. Puis, nous avons assisté au bal, en portant des costumes que nous avons crées de «duct tape » pendant l’après-midi. Demain matin, nous ferrons notre pièce de théâtre, alors au lit maintenant.

This morning, we woke up very early for our instant challenge. It went very well, in our opinion, and Madame Lagos agrees. Unfortunately, I can’t say anything about it until the end of the tournament because everyone at our level does the same challenge. After the challenge, we went to watch the performance of a team from Wisconsin whose team manager is a cousin of Mrs. Lagos. Their presentation was very funny.
Next, we watched several teams at our same level and in our same challenge in order to evaluate our competition. On the way to lunch, Julia Lagos’ dad joined us. It was a total surprise for her. What’s more, Peter’s family, and Claire’s mom and sister arrived to cheer us on. We are so happy to have supporters here.
In the afternoon, we spent a good deal of time practicing our play, after which we finally had some free time. We decided to go to the pool. The water was very cold, but we decided to swim anyway.
Then, we went to Out of the box costume ball wearing costumes that we had created out of duct tape earlier in the afternoon. Tomorrow morning we will do our performance, so it’s off to bed now.

Day 3
La journée a commencé avec le petit déjeuner. On a goûté des « grits », qui sont très mangés dans le sud. Ils n’avaient pas beaucoup de goût, mais avec du sirop d’érable, ils étaient mangeables.
Ensuite, nous sommes allés au camp « Wild and Wacky Wednesday » ou on a fait beaucoup de défis varies. Un de nos préférés était « sauver les pingouins. » Il y avait des pingouins cachés dans une salle avec beaucoup de boites en carton et des balles de plage. On devait plonger dans les objets pour trouver les pingouins.
Après le camp, nous sommes allés a « World’s Fair Park » pour un barbecue. Suivant le pique-nique, nous sommes allés pour échanger des épingles. En faisant ca, nous avons rencontre des équipes du Canada, de la Turquie, du Guatemala, et de la Corée, aussi bien que beaucoup d’équipes des USA. Anna Kazlauskas, qui se déménage en Corée bientôt, a parle un peu de Coran avec eux. Un des Coréens parlait français, alors nous avons parlé un peu de français avec lui aussi. Il y avait un « pep rally » pour accueillir toutes les équipes et on a continue l’échange d’épingles.
Après le diner, c’était l’heure pour la cérémonie d’ouverture du tournoi. Claire était choisie pour représenter notre équipe, alors elle est entrée avec le groupe du Minnesota.
Après que toutes les équipes soient entrées, il y avait un spectacle pyrotechnique avec des lasers aussi. C’était formidable !!! Nous sommes retournés a pied au dortoir parce qu’il faut être a notre « instant challenge » a 7 :30 du matin.

The day began with breakfast. Some of us tasted grits, which are very commonly eaten for breakfast in the south. They didn’t have a lot of taste, but with a little maple syrup, they were edible.
Next, it was off to Wild & Wacky Wednesday camp where we were given a bunch of challenges. One of our favorites was “save the penguins.” There were penguins hidden in a room with many cardboard boxes and beach balls. We had to find as many as we could in a given amount of time. We had to dive into the objects in order to find the penguins.
After camp, we went to World’s Fair Park for a barbecue. Following the picnic, we went to trade pins. It was very interesting. We met teams from Canada, Guatemala, Turkey, and Korea, as well as many American teams.
There was a pep rally to greet all of the teams. We managed to do more pin trading there. Peter is becoming an expert at this.
After dinner, it was time for the Opening Ceremony. Claire was chosen to represent our team, so she marched in with the Minnesota group. After all of the teams had entered, there was a pyrotechnic and laser show. It was great!!!!!!
We walked back to the dorms instead of waiting for the bus because we have to be at our instant challenge at 7:30 in the morning.

Day 2
Apres qu’ on est arrivé a L’Université de Tennessee, Mr. Garvey voulait des photos (beaucoup !!!!) donc on a commence dehors, et puis Mr. Garvey nous a ammene a la piscine. Il nous a demande d’ aller sur le plongeoir mais pas de sauter dans la piscine, et de prendre une photo. Tout le monde avait besoin de s’assoir sur le plongeoir et on avait tous les fesses mouilles !
Apres toutes les photos, on avait besoin d’enregistrer (mais juste Jane Lagos avait besoin de le faire) et tous les enfants sont alles dans une balle de hamster TRES grande !!!!! En premier, Peter et Christian sont alles, en deuxiéme Anna et Julia sont allees et puis moi et Colleen (Mme Quesnell.) Enfin, apres 2 heures, Mme Lagos et Mr. Varanasi sont revenus d’avoir enregistre l’equipe et on est alle a notre dortoir et c’est très petit !!!!!!! Claire, Julia, et Mme Lagos partagent une chambre. Anna et Jane partage une autre, Autumn et sa mère partage une autre, et Peter est avec son père, et Christian partage avec sa mère. On a aussi fait des défis instants pour preparer pour la competition jeudi matin ( nous sommes la premiere equipe a participer), on a construit les choses pour les défit instants.
Apres un peu de devoirs, c’etait au lit parce que demain matin nous allons au camp »wild and wacky. »

Finally, after 2 hours, Mrs. Lagos and Mr. Varanasi came back from registering our team. We quickly had dinner before going to our assigned dorms. They are very small. Claire, Julia and Mrs. Lagos are sharing a room, Anna and Jane are together, Autumn and her mom are in a room, Peter and his dad are in a room, and Christian and his mom are together. That evening, we did some instant practices to prepare for our competition Thursday morning. We are the very first team in the competition. After some homework, it was off to bed because tomorrow morning we have the wild and wacky Wednesday camp.
